A video clip of a Yemeni young man eating a raw pigeon in front of passers-by caused an uproar on Yemeni social media due to the strangeness of the scene and the lack of information about his motives.

A young man appeared on the street in Yarima, Ibb Governorate, devouring a raw dove along with its feathers amid ridicule from passers-by.

Activists made no secret of their shock at the video, which went wild like wildfire, with one commenting, “This person is suffering from a mental illness,” while another responded that it was “a rare occasion that a raw bird has been eaten in this place.” path.”

While others saw that what he did was due to severe hunger and lack of food.

Public figure Ghassan Salah believed: “The Yemenis in times of poverty and famine eat from garbage and make a living from it, so they have nothing to eat.”

While activists described the video as a humanitarian disaster, calling for the intervention of the UN and human rights organizations around the world to save Yemenis from the signs of a deadly famine that threatens the lives of millions of tormented families living below the poverty line in Yemen.

The clip recalled tragic scenes documented in previous videos, including a scene in which a Yemeni youth feeds mud to his mouth and other scenes in which Yemenis living in a rural town eat leaves from the same pot.

Among other shots, destitute children gather around the largest garbage dump in the Yemeni capital Sana’a, waiting for garbage trucks to dig through the piles for fresh food leftovers to restore the emptied equipment.
