As protests against the regime continue in Iran, taking on several popular and student forms, Tehran summoned the German ambassador yesterday after his country submitted a draft resolution to the UN Human Rights Council that resulted in the adoption of a commission of inquiry into the crackdown. protests.

“Following the German initiative to hold a special meeting of the Human Rights Council in connection with the latest events in our country, the German Ambassador was summoned to the Foreign Ministry,” the official news agency IRNA reported.

For its part, the ministry confirmed that Iran “will not cooperate with any mechanism determined on the basis of this decision, which is based on a political approach and is used as a tool”, reiterating its “total rejection” of the decision and expressing its protest against “unfounded statements by the German authorities”.

In recent weeks, the ambassadors of several countries, including Germany, Britain and France, have been called in to present them with notes of protest.

The 47 member states of the UN’s highest human rights body decided at an emergency meeting, initiated by Germany and Iceland, to appoint a team of investigators to investigate human rights violations related to the crackdown on protests organized by Iran. I’ve been watching for two months now.

A wave of protest erupted after the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian Kurdish woman, after she was arrested by the vice police for violating the dress code.
