X (ex-Twitter) allows creators to earn money by offering paid subscriptions

X gestures and wants to chat with Apple

X (formerly Twitter) allows creators to earn money through their accounts by offering subscriptions that give subscribers access to additional content. And to allow these creators to earn more, Elon Musk indicates that he will discuss with Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, with the goal of lowering the fees the App Store takes on the revenue generated from these subscriptions.

In a post on X, Musk emphasizes the importance of supporting content creators on the platform. “If you can afford it, subscribe to as many authors on this platform as you like. People from all over the world post amazing content on ???? but often live in difficult circumstances where even a few hundred dollars a month can change their lives,” he says.

Is it realistic?

The fees charged by the App Store have always been controversial. And it’s the cause of conflict between Apple and developer Fortnite. Epic Games, the developer of the video game Fortnite, no longer wanted to pay Apple’s commission and offered an alternative payment system on their video game. The result was Fortnite being banned from the App Store.

It remains to be seen if this discussion between Elon Musk and Tim Cook will lead to anything, given that Elon Musk regularly launches spades against Apple.
