The Saudi Yemeni Development and Reconstruction Program is sponsoring the Week of the Disabled in conjunction with the Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities in Al Mahra Governorate, which coincides with the International Day of Disabled Persons, to contribute to the reduction of disability-related problems and their social inclusion in a sustainable manner, thereby contributing to social and economic progress, in the presence of Fayez Ali Suheil Belhaf, Director General of the Department of Social Affairs and Labor in Al Mahra Province, and Muhammad Ahmed, Executive Director of the Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of the Disabled in Al Mahra Province Saleh Jabaz Balhaf and a representative of the Saudi Yemen Development and Reconstruction Program. The Director General of the Department of Social Affairs and Labor in Al Mahra Governorate explained that the United Nations designation of a day for persons with disabilities is a strong indication of the interest of the international community in this segment, expressing his satisfaction at this celebration, which is reaping the benefits of interest thanks to the generous support, provided by the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen.
For his part, the Executive Director of the Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of the Disabled in Al Mahra Province expressed his gratitude to the Saudi Yemen Development and Reconstruction Program for supporting this event, pointing to the organization of events that help in the movement of children with disabilities, among other upcoming events.
The sponsorship of the Saudi Yemen Development and Reconstruction Program is to celebrate the Week of the Disabled to provide effective and efficient health care by providing tools appropriate to their needs and to help build their capacity through various community activities that serve the 413 beneficiaries of the disabled.
The Saudi Yemen Development and Reconstruction Program takes into account the needs of people with disabilities in various key sectors. In the education sector, the program has worked to create 27 model schools that meet the needs of people with disabilities to use the school premises. because they have been installed to the highest standards and specifications; To create a suitable educational environment for this precious group, according to their abilities and needs, in such a way as to develop their skills and talents and facilitate their integration into society.
People with disabilities benefit from the projects and development initiatives introduced by the Saudi Yemen Development and Reconstruction Program in the health sector, which amounted to 25 development projects and initiatives, as the program supported 17 health centers by providing them with medical services. equipment and devices, and contributed to improving the efficiency and quality of services provided to people with disabilities and various groups in Yemeni society.
The Saudi Yemen Development and Reconstruction Program has developed (224) development projects and initiatives that have directly or indirectly affected people with disabilities. They have been implemented in various governorates of Yemen in (7) main sectors, namely: education, health, water supply, energy, transport, agriculture and fisheries Capacity building of government institutions, in addition to development programs.
