The Yemeni Defense Minister indicated that government forces, backed by the Saudi-led Legitimacy Coalition, are protecting international peace and security, as well as ensuring the security of shipping and world trade, which are under constant threat from the Houthi militias and their supporters in the region represented by Iran and Lebanese Hezbollah.

He said: The number of violations by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia of the United Nations-sponsored humanitarian truce since it came into force in early April has exceeded 8,000 violations, and he confirmed during a meeting with French Ambassador to Yemen Jean-Marie Safa and military attache Junaid Gouda : “These violations are a clear repudiation of the ceasefire and an attempt to interfere with international efforts to build peace.”
Al-Daari emphasized the importance of putting pressure on the Iranian-backed Houthi militia “to abide by the terms of the UN truce and limit violations of it, as well as its continuous mobilization since it was announced.” Yemen in confronting these terrorist groups and building a lasting and sustainable peace.
Respect the terms of the truce
For his part, the French ambassador stressed that “the international community condemns these violations of the Houthis and calls for the observance of the terms of the truce in order to achieve peace and stability in Yemen.”

Intensification of negotiations under the auspices of the UN
The UN Security Council called on the Yemeni parties to intensify UN-sponsored talks to agree on an extended truce that could translate into a permanent ceasefire. The Houthis will “return to negotiations and immediately open the main roads of Taiz.”
He also condemned all attacks that threatened to break the truce, including recent attacks by the Houthis on Taiz, as well as a militia military parade in Hodeidah.
Council members stressed that there is no military solution to the crisis in Yemen, and that an expanded truce agreement will provide an opportunity to reach a comprehensive political settlement in accordance with the agreed terms of reference.
