The Dragon Group includes warlords from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan and the United Kingdom, and has had this name since its first meeting in 2018, in honor of the HMS Dragon hosting the participants of that time, and it is one of 4 Type 45 ships belonging to the British Royal Navy.
The British Ministry of Defense indicated that it has more than a thousand soldiers who are regularly deployed in the region, as well as aircraft and ships, noting that its defense partnership helps it conduct operations against terrorism, piracy and smuggling.
The ministry said it would soon send a British carrier strike group to the Middle East to bolster the UK’s commitment to regional security, including conducting operations against ISIS from the British aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth.
