King Abdullah II reaffirmed Jordan’s position towards the Palestinian brothers and said: “We call on the international community to realize its just and legitimate rights by establishing an independent, sovereign and viable Palestinian state along the lines of June 4, 1967. with its capital in East Jerusalem.
He indicated that Jordan continues to make every effort to protect and care for Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, as well as to continue projects for the maintenance and reconstruction of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, based on the Hashemite guardianship of them, to preserve identity and Arabism of the Holy City, to establish the steadfastness of the people of Jerusalem and to protect the rights of Muslims and Christians in the exercise of their rights, their religious rites. The King of Jordan expressed his gratitude to the Secretary General of the Arab League and its members for their efforts in preparing the conference in cooperation with the Palestinian brothers, which His Majesty called an important conference to be held at a time when he requires everyone to intensify efforts to support the brothers’ resilience in the Palestinian territories. The convening of a conference in support of Jerusalem is taking place with the participation of high-level Arab, regional and international representatives, based on the decision taken at the 31st session of the Arab Summit held in Algiers last November.
