Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit called for more efforts to save children in countries affected by armed conflict and to work towards providing them with all forms of support, building their abilities and their educational rehabilitation.
This happened today during a meeting between Abul-Ghait and the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, Virginia Gamba, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo. Discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides on the protection of children affected by conflict.
The Secretary General of the Arab League praised the existing cooperation between the League and the United Nations in the protection of children affected by armed conflict, while the UN official emphasized that the Arab region is a priority, especially since many of them suffer as a result of conflicts.
