Al Hilal won the Lusail Super Cup by beating Egypt’s Zamalek 4-1 on penalties in a meeting that brought them together on Friday at the Lusail Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
The original time ended in a 1-1 draw as Al Hilal advanced first through Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo in the 18th minute and Zamalek equalized with Ahmed Syed in the 33rd minute so both teams resorted to a penalty which Al Hilal managed to win .
After the match, President of the Qatar Football Association Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani and President of the Federation of Saudi Arabia Yasser Al Mishal awarded Al-Hilal team members with a cup and gold medals, while Zamalek players received silver medals.
Notably, the Lusail Stadium will host a number of World Cup matches in addition to the World Cup Final in Qatar next November.
