There were 15 confirmed cases of monkeypox in the Canadian province of Quebec as of Monday, with more cases expected, according to the Canadian province of Quebec.
Almost 20 countries where monkeypox is not endemic have reported recent outbreaks of the viral disease, with over 230 confirmed or suspected cases, mostly in Europe.
Canadian Federal Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos said more samples from other parts of the country had been sent to a laboratory in Winnipeg for testing.
He added in a statement: “We expect confirmation of new cases in the coming days.”
Canada confirmed its first two cases of monkeypox last week after Quebec authorities said they were investigating 17 suspected cases.
