Lawyers for U.S. billionaire Elon Musk said Thursday that Twitter is rejecting a $44 billion offer by Tesla owner to take over the social media platform and asked a Delaware court to stop a pending lawsuit over the matter.
Earlier this week, Musk reiterated his offer to acquire the company to end a long-running legal dispute that began when he tried to back out of the April deal and Twitter sued.
And since Twitter sued Musk to force him to complete the purchase after he tried to back out four months ago, the company whose shareholders voted to approve the deal is unlikely to back out of the deal.
Instead, the San Francisco-based company is likely to ask Musk for assurances that he’s serious this time and won’t leave again.
