A man shot dead at least five people before committing suicide from the balcony of a residential area in the Republic of Georgia. The Interior Ministry in the capital Tbilisi said on Friday that a policeman was among the dead. Many people were injured in the attack, which took place in the town of Sagarijo in Kakheti, in eastern Georgia. The department said that investigators found an automatic weapon in the man’s apartment.
The background of the crime was not immediately clear. Georgian media reported that the man had served in the army in the past and was reportedly suffering from psychological problems. The report stated that he still had the weapons he had with him during his military service. The Georgian Defense Ministry has not commented on this case.
