The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, called for addressing the problems facing the youth of the Organization’s member states, especially in connection with high unemployment and the risk of spreading the phenomenon of extremism and the problem of displacement, asylum and illegal immigration, through the development of joint policies, strategies and action plans to meet the needs of young people, provide opportunities and advance Their role in development is to improve the economic and social situation, build and strengthen peace dialogue, combat extremism and terrorism.
This is stated in the speech of the Secretary General before the fifth session of the Islamic Conference of Ministers of Youth and Sports in the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The Secretary General of the International Organization indicated that global studies show that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation space contains about a quarter of the world’s young population, and the countries of the Organization are expected to include more than a third of the world According to the UN global population projections, these facts and realistic statistics can provide opportunities for the Islamic world by 2050 if the potential of young people is properly used and they participate in the development of policies and programs for youth development. and sports, as well as in the implementation of these strategies and programmes.
Hussein Taha called for concrete initiatives and actions to revitalize the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s sports development strategy in Member States and the organization’s youth strategy by launching development programs for youth in all Member States, as well as for Member States and relevant institutions to revitalize their role in these programs and initiatives.
