Based on the instructions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God preserve them, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in an international conference in support of of Pakistan, which took place today in Geneva, reaffirming its solidarity and support for the people and government of the sister Republic of Pakistan in the face of floods and related loss of life and property and Disasters caused by the effects of climate change affect developing countries that are the least contributing to them which calls for emphasizing the importance of countries taking responsibility in accordance with the principles, mechanisms and obligations agreed to in the United Nations Framework Convention. on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement, and the Kingdom reaffirms in this context that any proposal relating to climate change should be considered within the framework of the aforementioned agreements.
He called on the international community to contribute to the financing of reconstruction in the affected areas of the Republic of Pakistan, emphasizing the desire of the Kingdom to support Pakistan and its brotherly people from the very beginning of this humanitarian disaster, based on the principles and close ties of brotherhood that binds our peoples and governments at all levels and in all areas.
He mentioned the Kingdom’s humanitarian and relief initiatives through the King Salman Relief and Humanitarian Aid Center and the opening of an air bridge to send urgent humanitarian aid to the Pakistani people in addition to ground convoys of humanitarian aid trucks and he also launched a popular campaign to flood relief efforts in Pakistan, exceeding the total donations in this campaign so far by 153 million rials, based on the emergency assistance and humanitarian values of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its efforts to alleviate the suffering of people affected by crises, and extend a helping hand to the brotherly the people of Pakistan.
He explained that this is in addition to Pakistan’s historical support for the economy and development, which is represented by deposits, loans and major development projects, the latest of which is the extension of the term of the deposit provided by the Central Bank of Pakistan. 3 billion dollars, in addition to other development projects that were implemented by the Saudi Development Fund at the direction of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – God bless him – by investing one billion dollars in the sister Republic of Pakistan, as a confirmation of the position of the Kingdom in support of the economic development of the Republic of Pakistan and its brotherly people.
