Introduction
Dan Harmon’s list of animated shows keeps growing. At San Diego Comic-Con 2022, he showed off his new show, Krapopolis. A new show set in Ancient Greece comes from the same people who made the sci-fi cartoon shows Rick and Morty and Solar Opposites. Harmon has been making the show since June 2020, when he signed a deal with Fox Entertainment. Bento Box Entertainment, which makes animated movies, will make the show. Harmon is an executive producer for the show, and Jordan Young (Bojack Horseman) will be the director.
Krapopolis is also a unique idea because it will be the first animated network TV show curated on the blockchain. The move fits Fox and Bento Box Entertainment’s plans to grow their NFT businesses. The main site for the show already has exclusive NFTs called “Krap Chickens” that people can buy to access gated content, merchandise, giveaways, and even vote on certain details that will affect the show through its episodes.
The Setting and Characters
Greek mythology has been used in many different forms of media because it has a lot of stories that have been passed down through the years.
Harmon’s choice to set Krapopolis in this world and with these characters makes sense since both are well-known and offer many story ideas for the series. It’s also nice to see him use his well-known acting skills in this retelling of Greek myths. With a few notable cases like Disney’s Hercules, these adaptations aren’t often seen through a comic lens.
Surprisingly, the show has already been picked up for a second and third season before it starts in 2023. Until then, this helpful guide will show you everything we know about Krapopolis.

Even though the show was first shown at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, it doesn’t have a video. Instead, a sneak peek showed a scene from the first episode that was still to come. In the sneak peek, Tyrannis is seen at a city meeting where people talk about a Medusa-like figure turning harmless people into stone. As Tyrannis tries to find an answer, he briefly shows how his family works, but the results are not good.
Plot
At the center of many of Harmon’s stories is a dysfunctional family with a group of oddball characters who get into all kinds of trouble together. Krapopolis is set in the fictional city of Tyrannis, which is in Ancient Greece and is ruled by a young human king. His strange family of monsters and gods is right next to him and ready to help him lead this city of people to success.
In the episodes, Tyrannis will also meet some Greek mythological characters who will put him in situations as strange as the stories about them. Harmon has also said that the series won’t be so much “a retelling of events” as it will ” revisit” certain characters or themes that will interact with the show’s main original cast.
Here’s what Fox says about the plot: KRAPOPOLIS is an animated comedy set in mythical Ancient Greece from creator Dan Harmon. Centered on a flawed family of humans, gods and monsters that tries to run one of the world’s first cities without killing each other.
