Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday that Russian President Vladimir Putin will not attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
Peskov said that while “Russians respected her for her wisdom,” Putin’s presence at the Queen’s funeral “was not part of the plan.”
On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences to King Charles III of Great Britain on the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
In a telegram sent by the President of Russia to King Charles III of Great Britain and published by the official Kremlin channel in the Telegram, it was said: “The most important events in the recent history of the United Kingdom are closely connected with the name of Her Majesty. For many decades, Elizabeth II rightfully enjoyed the love and respect of her subjects, as well as power on the world stage.
