Netflix Strikes Licensing Deal with Warner Bros. Discovery for HBO Shows

Introduction

In a recent announcement made in June 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery and Netflix have reached a licensing agreement. This agreement entails that Netflix will receive some of the former HBO shows, which is an exciting development for fans of these beloved TV programs. The deal is non-exclusive, which means that the shows loaned to Netflix will still be available on Max, formerly known as HBO Max. This ensures that fans can continue to enjoy their favorite shows on their preferred streaming service.

First HBO Show Arrives on Netflix

As of July 3, Netflix has already received its first HBO original series, Insecure, as part of the agreement. This is just the beginning, as there are more confirmed HBO shows that will be coming to Netflix in the future. Fans can expect to see more of their favorite shows on Netflix, including highly anticipated titles such as Game of Thrones, Succession, The Sopranos, and Westworld. This exciting development is sure to bring joy to fans of these shows and provide them with more options to watch their favorite content.

Which HBO shows are coming to Netflix?

Netflix subscribers can now enjoy all five seasons of the hit comedy-drama series, Insecure, which is available for streaming. However, it should be noted that the licensing deal between Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery is only for a period of three years, as reported by What’s on Netflix. As of now, it is uncertain whether Insecure seasons 1-5 will remain on the streaming platform beyond its three-year mark. Rest assured, we will keep you informed of any updates regarding its availability.

Moreover, fans of HBO’s acclaimed shows will be pleased to know that Band of Brothers (2001), The Pacific (2010), Six Feet Under (2001-2005), and Ballers (2015-2019) are confirmed to be coming to Netflix soon. However, their exact release dates have yet to be revealed. Additionally, True Blood, the Emmy Award-winning fantasy series, will be available for international streaming on Netflix, with the exception of Netflix US subscribers.

Furthermore, there are reports of more HBO shows coming to Netflix US in the future due to the new deal. We will be sure to provide you with all of the names of the newly announced shows as soon as they become available. Until then, be sure to catch up on all of your favorite shows on Netflix.
