At least one person was injured Tuesday in a shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, after the suspect hid in the building.
Journalist Bill Melogen tweeted: “The shooting happened at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. The Texas Department of Public Safety and Uvalda Mayor Don McLaughlin told me that one person was shot dead and the shooter ran into the school building saying the shooter was holed up in the school.”
A few days ago, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation reported that the number of shootings at gatherings in public places in the country increased by 52.5% compared to 2020.
The office’s report states that “61 shooting incidents were recorded as ‘active shooting’, that is, incidents committed by one or more people with a firearm with the intent to kill or attempt to kill in crowded areas.
