The homes of a number of Spanish league players have been robbed over the past year, including the home of Real Madrid star Karim Benzema, but it appears that Italian coach Gennaro Gattuso has learned from the burglaries. Sunday, Gattuso foiled an attempted robbery at his home.
Gattuso relied on an advanced technical security system as well as guard dogs to catch thieves by surprise.
In particular, a group of thieves attacked the home of the former Italian star and coach of the Valencia team near the city of the same name during the team’s match with Kadesh in the Spanish league competition on Friday.
The attempted theft appears to be part of a general trend in which criminals monitor players and coaches’ match schedules, targeting their homes.
But in the case of Gattuso, things were different, as the Italian coach was ready for such opportunities.
Gattuso installed a state-of-the-art security system in his home, including alarms, video cameras, sensors, and to top it off, he alerted two guard dogs, who managed to drive the robbers away from the house.
Spanish police are currently investigating the video to find and arrest the thieves.
