Leeds United continued to shine under American manager Jesse Marsh with a 3-0 win over Chelsea, who ended a 10-man tie in the English Premier League on Sunday.
In an atmosphere of enthusiasm at Island Road, Leeds scored two goals in five minutes in the first half to take a 2-0 lead as Chelsea struggled to keep up with the fast pace.
The first goal came after a fatal error by goalkeeper Édouard Mendy who slowly cleared the ball, while American Brendan Aaronsohn scored into an empty net, his first Premier League goal after 33 minutes.
Rodrigo scored his fourth goal of the season amid the noise of the fans.
Leeds didn’t back down after the break and settled the matter with a Jack Harrison goal in the 69th minute before Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly was sent off after a second caution near the end.
Leeds won a second win in three matches of the new season to move into second place, with the defeat leaving Chelsea in 12th place.
