On Monday, the UAE strongly condemned the assault on the courtyard of the Al-Aqsa mosque by extremist settlers under the protection of Israeli forces.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation reaffirmed its “strong position on the need to fully protect the Al-Aqsa Mosque and stop its dangerous and provocative violations.”
He also stressed “the need to respect the role of the Kingdom of Jordan in caring for holy places and endowments in accordance with international law and the existing historical situation, and not to prejudice the authority of the Jerusalem Endowment Authority and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.”
The ministry called on the Israeli authorities to “decrease the escalation and end the state of tension and tension” and stressed the importance of exercising “maximum restraint to avoid drifting to new levels of instability,” the WAM news agency reported.
The ministry also stressed “the importance of supporting all regional and international efforts to advance the peace process in the Middle East and stop the illegal activities that threaten the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders.” with its capital in East Jerusalem.
