Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Electrical Engineers of Turkey, Maher Ulutash, shared a photo of the building of the Chamber of Civil Engineers in Kahramanmaras on his Twitter account.
Ulutash attributed the reason the building did not collapse to its proper foundations and the hardness of the materials used in its construction, saying, “Even with such strong earthquakes, there are buildings that can stand if they are erected with a strong structure.” ”, emphasizing that this can happen if engineering and science are applied correctly, and technology is applied for the benefit of citizens.
Ulutash added: “The building in the picture is the representative building of the Chamber of Civil Engineers of Kahramanmarash province. There is no need for words, just science and technology are enough to build buildings that can survive even in the face of such a big earthquake.”
In this regard, the Turkish justice minister promised to investigate the owners of properties that collapsed as a result of a strong earthquake that hit the country and claimed the lives of thousands of people, saying that they were prevented from traveling. “All cases of negligence that led to the collapse of buildings as a result of the earthquake will be investigated, and all necessary legal measures will be taken to prevent the owners of these facilities from leaving the country,” the Turkish official said.
