Wyzr Friends is an activity-based friendship app designed for adults aged 40 and above. Whether you’re an empty nester, divorcé, or new to a city, this app aims to help you connect with like-minded individuals, attend social events, arrange carpools, and try new activities.
How it Works
The app works similarly to Bumble Friends. You can thumbs up or thumbs down people and message your matches to get to know each other better. Once connected, you can arrange an in-person activity that both of you enjoy. There’s also an option to create a joint account with your significant other for double dating.
Shared Interests and Wellness Goals
In addition to shared interests, you can select from various health and wellness goals to showcase on your profile. This allows you to match with people based on what you want to improve. Examples of these goals include mindfulness, spirituality, finances, and career aspirations.
Filling a Gap in Friendship Platforms
Many older adults find it challenging to make friends, with about 35% of adults in the U.S. aged 45 years and older admitting to feeling lonely. Existing friendship platforms mainly cater to younger age groups, but there are limited options for those over 40. Wyzr Friends seeks to fill this gap by offering a one-on-one connection focused platform.
Unique Features
Wyzr Friends offers two proprietary features that set it apart. The “Friend Blast” feature allows you to send out invitations to specific matches with a single tap, making scheduling plans easier. The app also has a forthcoming group chat feature to coordinate events with multiple people simultaneously. Additionally, the “Carpool” feature allows members to arrange ridesharing for various activities.
Free Premium Features and Revenue Generation
For a limited time until December 31st, Wyzr Friends is offering the premium features of Friend Blast and Carpool for free to engage more users. In the future, the app plans to generate revenue through sponsors and branded content. Their goal is to keep the app subscription-free as long as possible while introducing in-app purchases for additional premium features.
Safety Measures
To ensure user safety, Wyzr Friends connects people based on age range rather than revealing exact ages. ID verification is also implemented to match profiles with government IDs and prevent scams targeting older adults. The app is considering adding age verification as an additional security measure.
Strategic Partnerships and Expansion
Wyzr Friends is currently in discussions with a major tech company for its first strategic partnership. The app launched its public beta version on October 11th and already has 400 users and 1,400 installs. It is available on iOS and Android devices in several countries, including the U.S., Canada, Australia, Ireland, Philippines, Singapore, and Mexico. The app will officially launch at the beginning of next year.
