Prime Video has officially renewed its hit action series Reacher for a sixth season. The announcement, made on September 28, 2026, comes as a major show of confidence in the franchise, arriving less than two weeks after the conclusion of Season 4 and while the fifth season is still in active production.
The early renewal follows a period of significant growth for the series. Season 4, which aired from August 12 to September 16, 2026, reached 66 million viewers worldwide in its first 28 days. According to TVLine, this development marks the first time in the show’s history that it has received two separate season renewals within a single calendar year.
Production Status and Season 5 Details
While Season 6 is now confirmed, the production team is currently focused on completing Season 5. Filming for the fifth installment began on July 21, 2026, with locations centered in Toronto and Oshawa. Production is scheduled to wrap in December 2026.
Season 5 is confirmed to adapt Lee Child’s 20th Jack Reacher novel, Make Me. The story typically follows Reacher as he arrives in a small town called Mother’s Rest, only to be pulled into a deep-seated conspiracy involving the dark web. Prime Video has not yet announced which of the remaining Lee Child novels will serve as the source material for Season 6.
Expansion of the ‘Reacher-verse’
The renewal coincides with a broader strategy to expand the property into a larger television universe. On September 16, 2026—the same day the Season 4 finale aired—Prime Video premiered the entire first season of the spinoff series Neagley. Starring Maria Sten, the spinoff focuses on Reacher’s frequent ally and former military colleague, Frances Neagley.
With the early commitment to Season 6 and the successful launch of the first spinoff, the franchise appears to be a cornerstone of Prime Video’s long-term programming strategy. Details regarding a premiere window for Season 5 are expected to follow the conclusion of filming late this year.
